Capstone Paper, Chapter by Chapter

One narrated video for each chapter of the capstone paper, Virtualized Cybersecurity Training Laboratory for Simulated Attack and Defense among Cybersecurity Students at Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MO-IT200D2, A4102 Group 2). Each video walks through its chapter section by section, in the paper's order, with the chapter's key figures and tables on screen.

About these videos

The narration and on-screen figures are taken from the paper itself, not from the code. Where the paper and the code differ, these documentation pages describe the code; see Accuracy Notes. The voice is machine-generated (Microsoft neural voice "Ava").

Chapter I: Introduction

ExplainerChapter I: Introduction10:39

Background of the study, the statement of the problem, the research objectives and questions, the significance of the study, and its scope and limitations.

ExplainerChapter II: Review of Related Literature13:28

The cybersecurity workforce gap, the limits of traditional teaching, virtualization and existing cyber ranges, why LXD, the literature behind the four scenarios, browser-based access, automated scoring, SIEM in education, the SUS instrument, the cost comparison (Tables 1 to 3), Agile versus Waterfall, the theoretical framework, the gap analysis and the synthesis.

Chapter III: Methodology

ExplainerChapter III: Methodology10:52

Requirement analysis (needs survey, practitioner interviews, functional and non-functional requirements, statistical treatment), system architecture and design, the student, instructor and admin workflows, components and technologies, the development plan, the testing plan and the implementation plan.

Chapter IV: System Implementation, Testing, and Results

ExplainerChapter IV: Implementation, Testing & Results10:59

What was built, how it was tested, and the results: functional and scenario tests, network isolation, provisioning performance, System Usability Scale scores, task-performance indicators, the security risk register, expert content validation and requirement coverage.

Chapter V: Conclusion and Recommendations

ExplainerChapter V: Conclusion & Recommendations10:30

The conclusion for each research objective and the recommendations for future work.

Chapters IV and V, question by question

These two videos follow the school's Chapter IV and Chapter V template and answer each of its guiding questions in turn, using only what the paper says. Where the paper answers a question only partly, or not at all, the narration says so.

ExplainerChapter IV, question by question15:37

System implementation (aims, hardware and software, network design, device configuration, security measures, addressing and protocols, costs, risk assessment, plus the portal's modules, flow, frameworks, interface, database and backend), testing procedures, and results by test type, ending with an honest view of strengths and weaknesses.

ExplainerChapter V, question by question12:16

Main findings, whether each objective was met, how well the problem was addressed, lessons learned, growth as IT professionals, how the results relate to other studies, and every group of recommendations.

How the SUS and expert scores were calculated

ExplainerHow the SUS and Expert Scores Were Calculated11:31

A step-by-step walkthrough of the statistical treatment in Chapter III, applied to the results in Chapter IV and Appendices G and I. Student SUS: adjust each item (odd items: response − 1; even items: 5 − response), add the ten, multiply by 2.5, then average the 25 scores to get 69.7, compared with the benchmark of 68. Also covers the item-level contributions in Table 19 and the before/after split (65.2 vs 87.5). Expert validation: reverse-score items 2, 4, 6 and 8 (6 − rating), average each item across the three validators, then average into dimension means (3.58 and 3.00) and the overall rating of 3.29. Ends with the limits of each result and common mistakes. The worked single-student example is made up for teaching, because the paper does not publish individual SUS forms.
